Project Description

This Big Bear mountain community is known for its incredibly hot beautiful summers and snowy freezing winters. Big Bear is also the most popular ski resorts in Southern California. So snow and icy weather is of abundance.

The thought of adding an all-glass sunroom that could actually be used in the winter never occurred to the Funk’s, whose primary residence is in Los Angeles. The Funk’s contacted Sun Boss about adding a room addition on their deck off the rear of their Big Bear home. Once Erik Schmitt saw the views and the open space behind the home, he knew they demanded a Four Seasons Sunroom.

The Funks were obviously concerned that it would be too hot in summer and too cold in the winter with the usual snow pack that Big Bear gets. However, visiting two other rooms that Sun Boss had built in their neighborhood put them over the edge. They were instantly sold on the high performing Four Seasons 230 Sun and Stars curved sunroom system. As these photos show, the curved sunroom design truly adds depth and beauty to the home and makes a creative art studio for Mr. and Mrs. Funk. The Funks are always shocked that it is the only room in the house that does not need heat when the sun is out, even though there is a foot of snow or more on the glass.
